LG develops and operates the platform; tQCS handles the customer-facing work — evaluating fit, integrating the solution into the customer's hardware and infrastructure, and supporting it afterwards.
What Is the LG OTA/DM Solution?
LG's OTA (Over-the-Air) DM (Device Management) Solution is a single platform
for updating software and managing devices in the field.
LG built it for its own products — appliances, TVs, robots, industrial gateways, and vehicles — and it is now offered to outside customers. Instead of a tool made for one kind of product, it is a common architecture (OTA Server, Package Generator, OTA Library, and Porting Layer) that has been adapted to very different hardware and operating systems, so IoT suppliers can work with one update framework across their product lines.
The LG OTA/DM Architecture
The architecture is organized into four functional layers, each with a clearly defined role in the update lifecycle:
OTA Server - Cloud control plane with dashboard, package registry, and real-time device tracking. Handles all server-side operations.
Package Generator - Compares old and new builds, creates minimal delta packages (90-99% smaller than full images), and signs them automatically.
OTA Client & Update Agent - Pre-built libraries you integrate into your devices. Handles download, installation, and rollback. Works on any OS.
Porting Layer - Connects the OTA system to specific hardware and platform. Includes integration guide and sample code to speed up deployment.
