HMI & 3D UI

Lightweight, Native UI Development for Embedded Systems

Slint is an open-source declarative GUI toolkit for building native user interfaces for embedded systems, desktop applications, mobile platforms and the web.

Originally launched as SixtyFPS, the project was renamed Slint in 2022. Slint is designed to provide modern, responsive graphical interfaces while keeping memory and processing requirements low — making it particularly suitable for embedded and resource-constrained systems.

Applications can connect Slint interfaces to business logic written in Rust, C++, JavaScript or Python.

What is Slint?

Slint separates the user interface from application business logic through its own declarative .slint language.

The UI is compiled to native code, while developers can integrate it with existing Rust or C++ applications and other supported language APIs.

Slint is designed around four key principles:

  • Scalable — From microcontrollers and embedded devices to desktop and mobile applications.

  • Lightweight — Designed for systems with limited memory and processing resources.

  • Intuitive — A declarative UI language and development tools help designers and developers work efficiently.

  • Native — Interfaces compile to native code and can access the capabilities of the underlying platform.

Slint provides multiple rendering options, including GPU-accelerated and software rendering, allowing applications to run on systems both with and without dedicated graphics acceleration.

Embedded UI from MCUs to MPUs

Slint supports a wide range of embedded hardware — from resource-constrained microcontrollers (MCUs) to more powerful microprocessor (MPU) platforms.

Supported deployment scenarios include:

  • Embedded Linux

  • Bare-metal systems

  • Microcontrollers

  • RTOS environments including FreeRTOS, Zephyr and QNX

  • Systems with or without GPU acceleration

  • Desktop and mobile platforms

This makes Slint suitable for applications in industrial systems, automotive, medical devices, consumer electronics and other embedded products.

What Can tQCS Do?

As a Slint partner, tQCS provides engineering and consulting support for companies evaluating, integrating or deploying Slint on embedded platforms.

Depending on your hardware and software environment, our support can include:

  • Slint technology evaluation and feasibility studies

  • Proof-of-concept development

  • Slint UI application development

  • Migration from existing GUI frameworks

  • Integration with Rust and C++ applications

  • Embedded Linux and RTOS integration

  • Hardware and SoC-specific adaptation

  • Performance and memory optimization

  • BSP, graphics stack and platform integration support

tQCS also has practical experience supporting commercial Slint projects together with technology partners including KDAB.

Whether you are building a new embedded HMI or evaluating Slint as an alternative for an existing UI architecture, we can help determine how it fits your target hardware, operating system and product requirements.
